Least Smart Today

Text-TV reported late yesterday that over 1,500 football fans had gathered. 

The Police comment was: "To support a team and express one's love for the team together is not to be classified as public congregation."

It is difficult to find the right words from a disease control perspecitve, "quagmire" does in some ways seem to fit. The fact that no one in Swedish society feels a need to comment on the Police statement is not encouraging.

Minst smart idag

Text-TV rapporterade sent igår att över 1 500 fotbollsfans hade samlats. 

Polisens kommentar var: "Att heja på ett lag och uttrycka sin kärlek till laget ihop är inte att klassa som en allmän sammankomst."

Det är till och med svårt att hitta rätt ord ur ett smittskyddsperspektiv, "härdsmälta" verkar på något sätt relevant. Det faktum att ingen i det svenska samhället verkar känna ett behov av att kommentera uttalandet är inte uppbyggligt.

The leader of a Swedish opposition party wants rules for vaccinated to be eased. Sounds reasonable. Yet another time, Government is not on top of the situation. 

I still think that Government is too big to work (23 persons), and that ministers are left to fend for themselves. With a smaller government, and working group dynamics, things would most likely have been better.

Kristersson vill ha lättnader för dem som är vaccinerade. Låter klokt. Regeringen är återigen inte först i tänkandet. 

Jag tror fortfarande att regeringen är för stor för att kunna fungera, och att ministrar lämnas i sticket. Med en mindre regering och lite gruppdynamik hade nog arbetet blivit bättre.

Corona Politics

Biden wants to know how the Corona came about. The Chinese accuse him of making politics of the disease. There has been very little politics around the Corona. Some have, quite unsuccessfully, tried to connect it to the Capitalist system. 

Many holders of power and journalists in the West have "their hart in China", which might explain the political silence. If the Corona had started in a western democracy, it would most likely have been different. Everyone left of the Liberals would thave seen the disease as the final proof of the need to abolish capitalism. No one seems to think that the Corona indicates that dictatorships needs to ablished.

Smittans politik

Biden vill veta hur smittan uppstod. Kineserna anklagar honom för att göra politik av sjukdomen. Nu har det varit ovanligt lite politik kring Coronan. Några har försökt koppla smittan till det kapitalistiska systemet, men inte varit särskilt framgångsrika i sin argumentation. 

Den politiska tystnaden kan sannolikt kopplas till många av världens makthavare och journalister "har hjärtat i Kina". Om Coronan hade uppstått i en västerländsk demokrati hade det sannolikt låtit annorlunda. Alla till vänster om Liberalerna hade sannolikt sett Coronan som det slutliga beviset för att kapitalismen måste avskaffas. Ingen tycks anse att Coronan visar att diktaturer måste avskaffas.

No statistics today because of an intrusion into the public computer systems. Serious. Our society has become much too weak and sensitive. 

The Chicken Society 

According to Text-TV, a large number of Swedish students are going to ignore recommendations and celebrate that school is out. 

No public reactions have been seen. I think that I know how the "Chicken Society" thinks: "We do not have the resources to fine them all."

Here, society is missing the point. It would suffice with threats of high fines, and a few fined to show that the threat was serious. Then the trouble will stop. 

It strikes me that a fine of up to one million SEK for being acessory to pandemic crime would stop anyone renting out the trucks on which the students like to celebrate.

Det mesiga samhället

Enligt Text-TV tänker svenska studenter i stor utsträckning ignorera alla rekommendationer och festa som de vill. 

Några officiella reaktioner har inte märkts. Jag tror att jag vet hur det mesiga samhället tänker: "Vi har inte resurser att bötfälla alla." 

Samhället missar här poängen: I det här fallet torde det räcka med ett hot om höga böter och ett par bötfällningar så att det visade sig vara allvar. Sedan upphör oskicket. 

Det slår mig att böter på upp till en miljon för medhjälp till smittskyddsbrott skulle stoppa alla som hyr ut lastbilar.

The number of newly infected is still on a lower level, 1,366 today. Good. A walk in Stockholm City today told me that a lot of younger people do not care too much about the Corona. Not so good. Many shop keepers are taking the restrictions on the number of persons in the shop seriously. Good indeed. 

Easing Restrictions

A number of restrictions will be eased as of June 1. Many are happy. One can only hope that there will not be a recoil.

Smittsiffrorna är fortsatt på en lägre nivå, 1 366 idag. Bra. En promenad i Stockholm idag indikerade att många yngre inte bryr sig så mycket om Coronan. Inte så bra. Många butiksägare har dock tagit begränsningen av antalet personer i butiken på största allvar. Klart bra.

Lättnader i restriktioner

Ett antal restriktioner skall lättas från den 1 juni. Många är glada. Man får bara hoppas på att det inte kommer en rekyl.

Today there were 2,732 newly infected. An obvious decrease from the old figures of around 6,000. Good. 

Right now, there seems to be more vaccine than people who wants to be vaccinated. I do not know if this is good or bad.

Swedish people can sometimes be mean and love to complain about petty matters. For once, it is satisfying to see Norway ahead of Sweden.

I Norge kritiserar man regeringen för att gå före i vaccinationskön. (Anders Hovne, Omni, Idag 16:56) Svenskar kan ibland vara ogina och väldigt förtjusta över att klaga över småsaker. För en gångs skull känns det bra att Norge ligger före oss.

Singapore is a really rich nation, and it is not surprising that good news comes from there.

Regional Governors?

The Infections MD in a region up north wants to sharpen the restrictions. (Anders Hovne, Omni Igår 23:11) The present way for a decision seems to go from from the MD to the local government office and from there to the Authority for People's Health (FHM), which seems complicated. 

It struck me that the regional government organization ought to have more power, especially in times of crisis. This would call for better regional governors and better regional government offices. I cannot recall any regional governor doing anything during the pandemic. (Today, I believe that the office is primarily a dumping station for spent politicians.) My general picture of the regional government offices is that they have been kidnapped by people with special agendas. 

It is probably difficult to find the right people, but I have an intense feeling that the government regional organization ought to be improved.

Landshövdingar?

Såg att Norrbotten vill skärpa restriktionerna. (Anders Hovne, Omni Igår 23:11) Den nuvarande vägen verkar gå från smittskyddsläkaren via länsstyrelsen till FHM, vilket verkar krångligt. 

Slogs av tanken att landshövdingar och länsstyrelser borde ha mer makt, framförallt i krislägen. Då krävs det bättre landshövdingar och bättre länsstyrelser. Jag kan inte påminna mig om att någon landshövding gjort något under pandemin. Min generella bild av länsstyrelserna är att de verkar vara kidnappade av människor med speciella agendor. 

Det kan bli problem att hitta rätt människor, men jag känner intensivt att statens regionala organisation borde stärkas.

The Subway

The number of newly infected is decreasing, but is still high. After a trip in the Stockholm subway, I partially understand why. 

The loudspeakers call for face masks, which is ignored by way over half of the travellers. 

The one saying that the Swedes are doing a good job during the pandemic is either lying or completely out of touch with realities.

Tunnelbanan

Antalet smittade går ned, men är fortfarande högt. Efter en tunnelbaneresa förstår jag delvis varför. Högtalarna talar om munskydd, vilket en bra bit mer än hälften struntar i. 

Den som berömmer svenskarna för att sköta sig väl i pandemin blåljuger eller saknar verklighetskontakt.

On the Right Track

The number of newly infected is now 3,000 instead of 6,000 or 7,000, which it was not that long ago. 

The rate of vaccinations is going up. Good.

The Study We Will Never See

Even if Sweden now is better at vaccinations than before, we are not as good as our three "most-hated-nations", Israel, USA and the UK. 

It would be interesting with a study that compared the vaccination process in the four different nations. In a country where largely all society oriented research is government controlled, we will, however, most likely never see such a study.

Studien vi aldrig lär få se

Även om Sverige nu är bättre på att vaccinera så är vi inte lika bra som våra tre "mest-kritiserade-nationer", Israel, USA och Storbritannien. 

Det vore intressant med en studie som jämförde vaccinationsprocessen i de fyra olika länderna. I ett land där i stort sett all samhällsorienterad forskning är statskontrollerad så lär vi dock aldrig få se en sådan studie.

Important Policy Explanations

Minister of Social Affairs today made statements in a Swedish daily, according to Text-TV. Close downs were critizised with reference to "long term health concequences" and "people's well being". A number of follow up questions could be asked. 

Minister of Social Affairs also adhered to the, from several angles, doubtful theory of "they would have died anyways" with the calculations of "surplus mortality". 

The statements could become an important source for those who in the future tries to understand the Swedish Corona-policy.

Hallengren har idag gjort uttalanden i Svenska Dagbladet, enligt Text-TV. Nedstängning kritiseras med hänvisning till "långsiktiga hälsokonsekvenser" och "människors välmående". En mängd följdfrågor inställer sig. 

Hallengren ansluter sig också till den ur flera synvinklar tveksamma "de skulle ha dött i alla fall"-teorin med överdödlighetsberäkningar. 

Intervjun med Hallengren kan bli en viktig framtida källa för den som i efterhand vill förstå den svenska Corona-politiken.

Today, there were 4,619 newly infected, which is a clear decrease from the old figures of 6,000 to 7,000. Good. Many dead, unfortunatlely. 

There is Something Rotten in the State of Sweden

Text-TV today reports that the State Secretary of Minister of Education has asked the Director General for education to hide facts from the opposition. 

The remarkable thing is that the Director General obviously did as he was asked. It hereby gets obvious that some ot the higher servants of society serves those in power, and not society. How has this worked during the Corona? Unclear, who has Tegnell been working for?

The solution must be to replace a number of civil servants by unselfish people, who focus on society.

Det finns något ruttet i samhällsapparaten

Text-TV rapporterar att Anna Ekströms statssekreterare har bett Skolverkets generaldirektör att undanhålla information från oppositionen. 

Det märkliga är att generaldirektören uppenbarligen gör som statssekreteraren vill. Det blir alltså tydligt att en del av samhällets högsta tjänstemän tjänar makthavarna och inte samhället. Hur det här har fungerat under Coronan är otydligt, vem har Tegnell arbetat åt?

Lösningen måste vara att ett antal tjänstemän byts ut mot sakliga och osjälviska människor.

The Indian Mutation

The Indian mutation is spreading in Sweden. I wonder if the authorities do anything to stop the spread, or if they are just watching, and taking notes. 

Unfortunately, there are many in the public sector living by the words "there is nothing one can do".

Fewer in Intensive Care

Johanna Sandwall, in charge of preparations for crisis at the government medical authority [roughly translated], tells us that the number of patients in intensive care is decreasing rapidly. (Helena Sällström, Omni, Idag 20.50)

This is good news. It is also interesting that the government medical authority has a person in charge of preparations for crisis. One day, I will try to find out what the mission of that office is.

En god nyhet. Det är också intressant att Socialstyrelsen har en krisberedskapschef. Någon gång skall jag försöka sätta mig in i vad den befattningen innebär.

Not Surprising

Yesterday, I used my newly won freedom to visit the local mall, although wearing my face mask. At once, I understood why the disease is spreading. A lot of people, despite a late hour. Most people were not wearing face masks, despite the fact that the loudspeakers regularly called for them. Not even the people working in the stores were wearing face masks. Keeping distance in such an environment is of course a pure chimera. 

In the beginning of the pandemic, Government and the Authority for People's Health (FHM) planted a sceptisism around face masks, and this sceptisism seems to be difficult to reverse.

Inte konstigt

Utnyttjade igår min nyvunna frihet till ett besök i Täby centrum, iförd munskydd. Jag förstod direkt varför smittspridningen är som den är. Mycket folk, trots en sen timma. De flesta bar inte munskydd, trots att högtalarna ofta uppmanade till att bära munskydd. Inte ens de som arbetade i affärerna bar munskydd. Att det hela tiden skall gå att hålla avstånd i en sådan miljö är naturligtvis en ren chimär. 

I början av pandemin inskärpte regeringen och FHM en skepsis mot munskydd, och den verkar inte vara så lätt att ändra i efterhand.

Good

One person in a southern concil has not followed the rules, and was fined 2,250 SEK, which is good. 

Bad

The council also wanted the person to pay the cost of the guards which he had incurred on the council. The court said no, which is bad.

If people got to pay what damages they cause, we would have a better society. I hope that the concil brings the case up to the next level in the court system.

Bra

En person i Höörs kommun som inte har följt reglerna har fått 2 250 kronor i böter i Lunds tingsrätt, vilket är bra. 

Dåligt

Höörs kommun ville dessutom att personen skulle betala de väktare som denne hade tvingat kommunen att sätta in. 

Tingrätten ville inte gå med på skadeståndet, vilket är illa. Om människor fick betala vad de ställde till med så skulle vi ha ett bättre samhälle. Hoppas Höör överklagar.

Vaccination

Havinging got the first dose, the progress in vaccination gets less interesting [selfish]. Text-TV tells of a British study, saying that it is good to wait twelve weeks after the first Pfitzer-dose. Very interesting, myself, I am in no hurry.

Vaccination 

När man själv har fått första dosen blir vaccinationsframstegen lite mindre intressanta, själviskt. Text-TV rapporterar dock om en brittisk studie som säger att det är bra att vänta i tolv veckor efter första Pfitzer-dosen.  Mycket intressant, själv är jag inte längre stressad.

No statistics in Sweden today, since it is a national hollyday. 

Day 400

Day 400 feels like a milestone. Time has passed quickly, perhaps partly because of the blog. It has also been good to off load one's thoughts once a day. 

Summary

Day 400 calls for some sort of a summary. A lot in Swedish society has worked, for example health care. Many other things have not worked. I think that the fact that Government has twenty-three members is the core problem. 

A large government cannot reasonably work as a government, the ministers are most likely left to cater for themselves, as good as they can. The PM most likely has a problem to remember all the ministers, supporting them all would be out of the question. 

One can only hope that the next PM is more realistic and names a government of seven persons.

Dag 400

Dag 400 för bloggen känns som en milstolpe. Tiden har gått fort, kanske delvis på grund av bloggen. Det har också känts bra att få skriva av sig en gång om dagen. 

Summering

Den jämna dagen propsar på någon sort summering. Mycket i det svenska samhället har fungerat, till exempel sjukvården. Mycket annat har inte fungerat. Jag tror att det faktum att regeringen har 23 ledamöter är grundproblemet. 

En stor regering kan rimligtvis inte fungera som en regering, ministrarna blir lämnade vind för våg med vad de nu har för problem. Statsministern har förmodligen svårt att räkna upp alla ministrar, och att stödja dem alla är inte att tänka på. 

Man bara hoppas att nästa statsminister besinnar sig och skapar en regering med sju personer.

The first day of summer weather in Stockholm. Many dead and newly infected. One can wonder if we have not learned how to handle the Corona. Not good grades for humanity. 

The Pessimist Choir

The Pessimist Choir sings about an eternal Corona. (Matilda Glaser, Omni, 10 maj) Of course, the Pessimist Choir does not know anymore than anyone else if the Corona will remain or just disappear. 

The worst about the Pessimist Choir is that it has a large audience.

Första dagen med vackert väder i Stockholm. Många döda och nya smittade. Man kan undra om vi inte har lärt oss hur vi skall hantera Coronan. Inget bra betyg för mänskligheten. 

Pessimistkören

Pessimistkören sjunger om evig Corona. (Matilda Glaser, Omni, 10 maj) Pessimistkören vet naturligtvis inte bättre än någon annan om Coronan skall stanna eller om den likt spanska sjukan plötsligt bara är borta. 

Det tristaste med pessimistkören är att den har en stor publik.

13,812 newly infected during the weekend. It seems like the number of infected is not decreasing with the increase in vaccinations. 

The Communications People's Defeat

Yesterday's thinking about Astra made me think about all the communications people that crowd various organizations. During the pandemic, most everyone, from Government to Astra have failed in communiciations. 

The investment in communication people thus appear as doubtful. It would better if we got to see more real office holders and fewer press spokespersons in media.

Kommunikatörernas nederlag

Gårdagens reflexion över Astra fick mig att tänka på att det i kryllar av kommunikatörer i många organisationer. Under pandemin har i stort sett alla från regeringen till Astra utmärkts av dålig information. 

Investeringen i kommunikatörer framstår alltså som högst tveksam. Det vore bättre om vi fick se fler riktiga befattningshavare och färre presstalespersoner i massmedia.

The vaccinations are proceeding, which is good. It is getting warmer, which is also good. 

Astra

Astra's and Janssen's vaccines are discontinued in Norway. As a small, but still, shareholder in Astra, I am not completely satisfied with the way the company has handled the situation. Above all, there has been too little communication from the company. In the context, the cost of advertisments is small.

Vaccinationerna tickar på, vilket är bra. Det blir varmare, vilket också är bra. 

Astra

Astras och Janssens vaccin stoppas i Norge. Som liten, men dock, aktieägare i Astra är jag inte helt nöjd med bolaget. Jag tycker framförallt att man har kommunicerat för lite. Annonser är i sammanhanget billigt.

A Culture of Silence?

Not much to inspire blogging today. I came to think about how little that has been heard from the medical profession during the pandemic, despite the fact the problem largely is medical. Is there a culture of silence in health care?

Snagging at the Defense Forces

The Swedish Defense Forces wants the soldiers abroad to get a vaccination. We talk about a few hundred doses. Government says no. Most people would most likely support a dose for the soldiers. This is a typical anti-defense stance,  ideologically motivated, but not very statesmanlike.

Försvaret vill att de utlandstjänstgörande soldaterna skall få gå före i vaccinkön. Vi talar om några hundra doser. Regeringen säger nej. De flesta vill nog unna soldaterna en dos. Det här är typisk njugghet mot försvaret, ideologiskt baserad, men föga statsmannamässig.

Who is the smartest?

The Authority for People's Health (FHM) is in disagreement with a number of regions concerning the Astra vaccine. It seems like the policy making process is not working well. These sort of matters should be sorted out smoothy. 

That the FHM have more knowledge or wisdom that the regions does at a first glace seem unlikely. The fact that Government pays FHM salaries does not make them better. That the FHM is more knowledable and wiser than the sum of the regions seems to me as highly unlikely.

Vilka är smartast?

FHM och några av regionerna är oense om Astravaccin. Det verkar som om beslutsprocessen inte fungerar bra. Sådana här frågor borde lösa sig smidigt. 

Att FHM skulle var kunnigare och klokare än regionerna tror jag a priori inte på. Det faktum att staten betalar lönerna på FHM gör dem inte bättre. Att FHM är kunnigare och klokare än summan av regionerna verkar för mig helt osannolikt.

Society at mercy

Minister of Social Affairs says that it will get better, if people follow recommendations. Society thus places itself at the mercy its sloppiest members. It would be reasonable for society to make sure that the recommendations are followed. Unfotunately, too many officials live by the motto "It cannot be done". 

This motto can most likely be traced to "I am too lazy", "I do not want to", "I do not know how to do it" or "I do not dare to". 

Vaccine and Patents

Text-TV says that revoking vaccine patents is considered. Is this wise or a populist move? I hope that the full picture is taken into account before a decision is made.

Samhället utlämnat på nåd och onåd

Socialministern säger att det kommer att bli bättre, om människor följer rekommendationerna. Samhället lämnar alltså ut sig på nåd och onåd till de slarvigaste medborgarna. Det vore rimligt att samhället såg till att rekommendationerna följdes. Tyvärr har många i offentligheten valspråket "Det går inte". 

Valspråket kan sannolikt spåras till "Jag orkar inte", "Jag vill inte", "Jag vet inte hur man gör" eller "Jag vågar inte". 

Vaccin och patent

Text-TV berättar vaccinpatent kanske kommer att upphävas. Är detta klokskap eller populism? Jag hoppas att man betraktar hela bilden innan ett beslut fattas.

Today, there were 60 dead and 7,041 newly infected. I wonder who gets infected and dies right now. If I watched the press conferences, I might have known. 

Another question occurred to me. How much information is on the new cases is collected? Were they infected in the family? Did they use face masks? What do they work with? Mabey I can read the answers in the Commission paper in the future.

Slog också av frågan hur mycket fakta man samlar om respektive nysmittad. Blev de smittade i familjen? Använde de munskydd? Vad arbetar de med? Jag kanske kan läsa om detta i kommissionens rapport i framtiden.

No figures for new cases today, but they are supposed to be smaller than the ones of last week. Always something to be happy about. 

Complaints and Disobliging as State Religion

Yesterday, a number of policemen got vaccinations which otherwise would have been thrown away. (Sebastian Hagberg, Omni, Idag 06:21)

The event has been made into a major problem, and people have "reacted negatively". I think that the number of Swedes that do not welcome the police to these doses is small, but the hunt for "injustices" has been raised to state religion. This is not good for society, generosity generates progress, and vice versa.

Det här görs till ett stort problem och människor "reagerar negativt". Jag tror inte att särskilt många missunnar polisen de här doserna, men jakten på "orättvisor" har upphöjts till statsreligion.   Det här är inte bra för samhället, generositet gynnar utveckling och tvärt om.

No major news today. With joy, I realize that my vaccination is now on its third week. 

It seems like the pandemic soon will be over. My guess is that the PM will praise himself, his government, the Authority for People's Health and the Swedes in general when everything is back to normal. I am not so sure how well deserved this praise will be.

Inga stora nyheter idag. Konstaterade med glädje att min vaccination nu är inne på sin tredje vecka. 

Det verkar som om pandemin snart är över. Min gissning är att Löfvén kommer att berömma sig själv, sin regering och FHM, samt alla svenskar när allt har återgått till det normala. Jag är inte säker på hur välförtjänt det berömmet kommer att vara.

Smartest Today

MD Maria Rotzén Östlund, head of Infections in Stockholm, today stated that the demonstrations against Corona restrictions were totally unacceptable. 

Good with someone who speaks out. 

Least Smart

The way the demonstrations have been handled makes the entire chain of command in legal matters, starting with the PM, the Minister of Interior and the Minister of Justice, to appear as "least smart". One can suspect that fear of the the small but loud group which would object to a resolute behavior from society creates the lameness. This is not a comfortable thought. 

A Real Pandemic Law

A real pandemic law would include up to five years of prison, up to one million in fines and total responsibility for costs incurred by different actions. Some 75 percent of all Swedes would most likely support such a law. One could guess that two percent would oppose this law and that the reminder would be "do not know".

Maria Rotzén Östlund, smittskyddsläkare i Stockholm, betecknade demonstrationerna mot Corona-restriktioner i Stockholm som helt oacceptabla. 

Bra med någon som talar klartext. 

Mindre smarta

Sättet att hantera demonstrationerna i Stockholm får hela samhällets juridiska kedja, med Löfvén, Damberg och Johansson i toppen, att framstå som mindre smarta. Tanken att handlingsförlamningen förmodligen skapas av en rädsla för den lilla men högröstade andel av Sveriges befolkning som skulle motsätta sig ett mer resolut uppträdande är inte uppbygglig. 

En riktig pandemilag

En riktig pandemilag skulle innehålla upp till fem års fängelse, upp till en miljon i böter och ansvar för kostnader som olika handlingar skapar. Minst 75 procent av Sveriges befolkning står sannolikt bakom. Gissningsvis är två procent helt emot en sådan lag och övriga "vet ej".

Today, there were demstrations against the Corona-restrictions in Stockholm. The Swedish picture of ourselves as the smartest people in the world was probably dented. 

The Police seems to have acted lamely. I think that 70 percent, maybe 80, of the Swedes would have wanted to see more police action, with all the demonstrators arrested and given sentences of concequence. We have a lot of quagmires, also a Police quagmire.

Idag har det demonstrerats mot Corona-restriktioner i Stockholm. Svenskarnas bild av sig själva som världens smartaste har förmodligen fått sig en knäck. 

Polisens agerande verkar ha varit lamt. Jag tror att 70 procent av svenskarna, kanske 80, hade velat se ett kraftfullt ingripande, med omhändertagande av alla demonstranter och kännbara straff. Vi har många härdsmältor, även en polishärdsmälta.
