 A lot to blog about today, but I chose Tegnell and the spread of the disease. 

Tegnell and the Spread of the Disease

Tegnell did on November 12 claim that the disease does not spread by air, and that drops is the rule. In special situations, an infected person can create an aerosol which can spread longer. (Lisa Andersson, Omni, torsdagen den 12 november, 21:38)

This is of course complicated, and way outside of my competence. It does, however, seem like the distinction between airborne, aerosol and drops is not that distinct. It also seems like a lot can go wrong if incorrect assumtions are made.

The quote below, under "Swedish", could be wrong or it could be dated, it did, however, make me think.

Det här är naturligtvis knepigt, och utanför min kärnkompetens. Det verkar dock som att gränserna mellan luftburen, aerosol och droppsmitta inte är absoluta. Det verkar också som att mycket kan gå fel om man gör fel antaganden från början. 

Nedanstående citat kan vara föråldrat eller fel, men det gör mig fundersam.

"The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations for social distancing of 6 feet and hand washing to reduce the spread of SARS-CoV-2 are based on studies of respiratory droplets carried out in the 1930s. 

These studies showed that large, ∼100 µm droplets produced in coughs and sneezes quickly underwent gravitational settling (1). 

However, when these studies were conducted, the technology did not exist for detecting submicron aerosols. As a comparison, calculations predict that in still air, a 100-µm droplet will settle to the ground from 8 feet in 4.6 s, whereas a 1-µm aerosol particle will take 12.4 hours (4). 

Measurements now show that intense coughs and sneezes that propel larger droplets more than 20 feet can also create thousands of aerosols that can travel even further (1). 

Increasing evidence for SARS-CoV-2 suggests the 6 feet CDC recommendation is likely not enough under many indoor conditions, where aerosols can remain airborne for hours, accumulate over time, and follow airflows over distances further than 6 feet (5, 10)."

 About Cliff Barnes being smarter than the Minister of Social Affairs

The Minister for Social Affairs claims that it is diffcult to sancition rules. The Stockholm restaurant Cliff Barnes clearly states that anyone breaking the rules are thrown out. 

The two statements are illustrated by the pictures in Swedish below.

Socialministern säger att det svårt att införa sanktioner för regler. Texten nedan kan vara svår att läsa på en mindre skärm. En viktig mening är: "Att införa tvingade krav som följs av kontroller, bevakning och eventuellt böter är svårt, enligt Hallengren."

Restaurangen Cliff Barnes är smartare. De har insett att ett litet, men dock, antal personer behöver en konsekvens för att följa en regel. 

Bilden kan vara svårläst på en mindre skärm. Nyckelorden finns dock näst längst ned "Missbruk = UTVISAD". 

12 November, Thursday, Day 220

In some ways a better day than yesterday. I am feeling fine, but the Corona-situation is not hopeful. Good news is that Region Skåne launches quick tests. The people in the south always seems to be leading, and Stockholm to lag behind. Quite worth considering. 

Government is always behind and shows no agility. Minister for Social Affairs, Lena Hallengren, did yesterday talk about people taking responsibility, claming that it is difficult to have any sanctions (Text-TV). 

One of the problems is most likely that Government sees itself as an institution for nagging, not for action. 

It would be great if Government could see itself as responsible for acting against those who do not take their responsibility.

En på vissa sätt bättre dag. Jag mår bra, men Corona-läget är inte uppmuntrande. En god nyhet är att Region Skåne inför snabbtest. Skåningarna verkar alltid ligga på framkant, och Stockholm efter, ganska tänkvärt. 

Regeringen ligger alltid efter och handlingskraften är minimal. Lena Hallengren gick i går ut och talade om eget ansvar och menade att det är svårt att införa sanktioner. (Text-TV) Ett av problemen är sannolikt att regeringen ser sig som en "tjatmoster", och vägrar handla som en regering. Det vore rimligt om regeringen såg sig själv som ansvarig för att agera mot dem som inte tar sitt ansvar.

 Bad day. Felt terribly and a several things going wrong. The Corona situation is worsening.

10 November, Tuesday, Day 218

 The Not Agile Society

Why are there not people with fever pistols outside restaurants, bars and malls? On the margin, these efforts ought to yield significant results.

Varför står det inte någon med en feberpistol utanför restauranger, barer och köpcentrum? På marginalen borde insatser ge stor utdelning. 

9 November, Monday, Day 218

The Corona-commission is delayed in delivering their first report. Not surprising. It is difficult to reach something presentable in show work. 

The commission should of course have been made up by people who's independence and competence could have withstood hard tests. The really brave move would have been if Government had let the opposition create the commission.

Corona-kommissionen är försenad med sitt första betänkande. Föga förvånande. Skenverksamhet har svårt att komma fram till något som kan presenteras. 

Kommissionen skulle naturligtvis ha satts ihop med människor som hade klarat hårda tester på oberoende och kompetens. Det riktigt modiga hade varit om regeringen hade låtit oppositionen sätt ihop kommissionen. 

8 November, Sunday, Day 217

 Absolutist or marginalist?

The following has occurred to me: There are two ways of thinking. The Absolutist demands the perfect and absolutely best solution to a problem, otherwise, he does nothing, except for trying to figure out what the absolutely best solution might be. 

The Marginalist can do things because they improve matters somewahat, eventhough they are not the absolutely best solution. 

The advantage of being an Absolutist is that one does not have to do that much, more than thinking about what the absolutely best solution might be. The Marginalist can keep constantly busy. 

Who is who regarding face masks in Sweden might be obvious.

Absolutist eller marginalare?

Följande har slagit mig: Det finns två sätt att tänka. Absolutisten kräver den fullständiga och absolut bästa lösningen, annars gör han inget mer än funderar över vad som kan vara det allra bästa. 

Marginalaren anser att man kan vidta åtgärder för att de förbättrar något, även de inte utgör den absoluta lösningen. 

Fördelen med att vara absolutist är att man oftast inte behöver göra så mycket, mer än sitta och fundera på vad som kan vara bäst. Marginalaren kan dock hålla sig konstant sysselsatt. 

Vem som är vem i munskyddsfrågan är kanske uppenbart.
