Swedish Media Reporting on Ukraine

Anybody following Swedish media reporting on Ukraine finds it difficult to believe that there is a war going on. It seems like there is "just" a few missiles hitting Ukrainian cities. Is this correct?

Sounds very wise. For a long time, I have been thinking that Western media has got it wrong. Trump all day and nothing about the dictatorship and worst trade warrior of them all, China.

Låter mycket klokt. Jag har länge haft en känsla av att media i västvärlden silar mygg och sväljer kameler. Trump hela dagen och inget om diktaturen och den värsta handelskrigaren Kina.

Interview

Just recently, Expressen (Swedish daily) editor Linda Jerneck interviewed Joakim Paasikivi (retired Swedish army officer). (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i04R4MpaeZA)

Jerneck was impressing by pointing out the culture of utter slowness that dominates the Swedish defense forces, something that might not be easy to detect from the outside. Paasikivi could not really handle that question. 

Paasikivi surpised by not mentioning the disastrous lack of trained soldiers in Sweden, something that Jerneck did not pick up. 

Sweden is most likely in trouble. One cannot solve a problem that is not properly described.

Expressens Linda Jerneck intervjuade nyligen Joakim Paasikivi. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i04R4MpaeZA)

Jerneck imponerade genom att sätta fingret på Försvarsmaktens långsamhetskultur, något som Paasikivi inte riktigt kunde hantera. 

Paasikivi förvånade genom att inte nämna den katastrofala bristen på utbildade soldater i Sverige, något som Jerneck inte fångade upp. 

Sverige torde vara illa ute. Ett problem som inte är beskrivet kan inte lösas.

When people want to cooperate with aggressive dictatorships, we have lost our moral compass. Sweden does not need more cooperation with China, we need four new headmasters.

När människor vill samarbeta med aggressiva diktaturer har vi tappat vår moraliska kompass. Sverige behöver inte samarbete med Kina, vi behöver fyra nya rektorer.

Maria Malmer Stenergard (Swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs) is worried, wants to return to diplomacy and is follwing news closely. (Linus Lindgren, Omni, Idag 20.20)

A totally meaningless statement. The Minister of Foreign Affairs could be replaced by an AI-function set on "meaningless". A "return to diplomacy" is also an interesting statement. I wonder if the Minister of Foreign Affairs thinks that any progress with Iran can be achieved by diplomacy?

Kristersson (Swedish PM) has assembled the worst Swedish government since the last one.

Fullständigt meningslöst uttalande. Utrikesministern skulle kunna ersättas med AI-funktion inställd på meningslöshet. "Återgång till diplomati" är också ett intressant uttalande. Undrar om utrikesministern tror att man kommer någon vart med Iran på diplomatisk väg?

Kristersson har lyckats sätta ihop den sämsta regeringen sedan den föregående.

A Safer World

By attacking Iran's nuclear programme, the USA seems to have made the world a safer place. No one, however, seems to be thanking the USA for their efforts. Europe here has a brilliant opportunity to show which side we are on. It would be a nice gesture to pay half of the bill for the effort. Also, Europe's security has increased considerably.

En säkrare värld

Genom att angripa iransk kärnvapenproduktion verkar USA ha gjort världen till en säkrare plats. Ingen verkar dock direkt tacka USA för insatsen. Europa har här ett lysande tillfälle att visa vilken sida man står på. Det vore också en fin gest att ta halva kostnaden för insatsen. Även Europas säkerhet har väsentligt ökats.
