Media are now showing slight optimism, the pressure on health care in Stockholm is reduced and the number of dead in Europe is decreasing. The pessimism around economy, however, seems to be increasing. High unemployment is in the cards.

The news about the councils hiding facts about Corona in the homes for elderly are still on the top of my mind. I, however, am apparently quite lonely here. The Government says nothing, thereby obviously giving their quiet consent to the council actions. Neither the opposition says anything. I guess that the party strategists rapidly reached the conclusion that this matter should be left to vanish in a fog of silence. Since people from all parties are involved, this would probably the correct political way to handle the question.

Even if optimism increases, it is probably not over. The British Minister of Health, Matt Hancock said this Saturday that the key to fighting the virus is tests (Text-TV). One can understand from the news that both Denmark and Great Britain is ahead of us here. I realized that I know very little about the testing organization in Sweden. Is there a Swedish "Test-General"? In that case, who? Who has the responsibility, Government, regions, councils or no one? Which are the roles of the government bodies the Authority for People's Health, the Board for Social Affairs and the Authority for Civilian Defense? Media has not been very good at clarifying the situation.

No news about food rationing. The Minister for the Countryside has stated that she does not believe in state-kept food supplies. My spontaneous reaction was that I do not believe in the Minister for the Countryside.
Supplying food to the population in a crisis ought to be one of the prime concerns for a government. One of my friends did in his blog point out that today's politicians love to disregard all risks, and therefore they do not need to prepare for them. A year of globally failed harvests is not likely, but it is possible. In such a situation, a nation without stored food supplies will be in trouble. Here, one can easily imagine two scenarios, one with stored food supplies and one without.

Today's statistics says 2,769 dead (+90) and 22,721 confirmed cases (sverigesradio.se, kl. 14.08). A figure on the total number of infected is yet to be seen. How the State Epidemiologist Tegnell can figure out "R-numbers" is still unclear to me.

Media börjar nu andas optimism, belastningen på sjukvården i Stockholm sjunker och dödstalen verkar minska i Europa. Pessimismen kring ekonomin verkar dock öka. Hög arbetslöshet hotar.

Nyheten om de mörkande kommunerna i Sörmland ligger fortfarande högt i mitt medvetande. Jag verkar dock vara tämligen ensam om det. Regeringen tiger, och ger därmed uppenbarligen sitt tysta godkännande av kommunernas hantering. Ingen av oppositionspartierna säger något heller. Jag gissar att partistrategerna snabbt har kommit fram till att frågan bör tigas ihjäl. Eftersom människor från samtliga partier är inblandade tycker man nog att det blir bäst så.

Även om optimismen ökar så lär det inte vara över. Den brittiske hälsoministern Matt Hancock sade i lördags att testning är avgörande för att bekämpa viruset (Text-TV). Man kan förstå av nyheterna att såväl Danmark som Storbritannien ligger före oss vad gäller testning. Jag inser att mina kunskaper om den svenska testverksamheten brister. Finns det någon svensk testgeneral? I så fall vem? Var ligger ansvaret, stat, region, kommun eller ingenstans? Vad har de statliga myndigheterna som Folkhälsomyndigheten, Socialstyrelsen och MSB för roller i sammanhanget? Media har här inte varit särskilt bra på att beskriva hur det ligger till.

Inget nytt om livsmedelsransonering. Landsbygdsministern har dock gått ut och sagt att hon inte tror på statliga livsmedelslager. Min spontana reaktion var att jag inte tror på landsbygdsministern. Folkförsörjningen i kris borde vara en av statens viktigaste verksamheter. En av mina goda bekanta påpekade i sin blogg att dagens politiker älskar att tänka bort alla risker, och därmed anser man sig inte behöva förbereda sig för dem. Ett globalt missväxtår är inte sannolikt, men det är möjligt. I ett sådant läge kommer alla nationer utan livsmedelsförråd att så sig slätt. Här är det ganska lätt att tänka sig två olika scenarion, ett med livsmedelsförråd och ett utan.
