For a couple of days, I have not been in total blogging mood, but today it is back. Text-TV has presented a few things to consider.

0.6 percent Deadliness

The Authority for People's Health now claims that 0.6 percent of the infected in Stockholm have died. The underlying study was based on 2,000 infected in Stockholm. Then something interesting was added [freely translated]: "At the same time, they have calculated the number of unconfirmed cases [...]." (Text-TV 2020-06-17)

The way I see it, "calculated" is the key word in the quote above. How was this calculation done? Could it be anything more than a guess? The Authority for People's Health could of course have done something miraculous which I do not realize, but it this case it should be interesting to know what.

If there is no really good foundation for the calculation, the news almost assumes the character of "fake news". I am, however, unsure whether fake news requires sinister motifs. If so, a new word should be needed for the 0,6 percent from the Authority for People's Health. "Dubious news"?

Gällivare and Motala [smaller cities in Sweden]
Unfortunately, it seems like the infection is spreading in Gällivare and Motala. I wonder if they are going to recommend face masks locally. The way I feel, anything else would be bad judgement.

Under ett antal dagar har jag saknat det starka behovet av att blogga, men idag är det tillbaka. Text-TV har innehållit en del att reflektera över.

0,6 procents dödlighet

Folkhälsomyndigheten går ut med att 0,6 procent av de smittade i Stockholm har avlidit. Studien baseras på närmare 2 000 smittade i Stockholm. Sedan tillkom något intressant: ”Samtidigt har man beräknat hur många obekräftade sjukdomsfall som kan ha funnits […].” (Text-TV 2020-06-17)

Som jag ser det är ”beräknat” nyckelordet i citatet ovan. Hur har denna beräkning gått till? Kan den vara något annat än en gissning? Folkhälsomyndigheten kan naturligtvis ha gjort något mirakulöst som jag inte inser, men i så fall skulle det vara intressant att veta vad.

Om det inte finns en riktigt bra förklaring till beräkningen får nyheten nästan karaktären av ”fake news”. Jag är dock osäker på om ”fake news” kräver ett ont uppsåt. I så fall borde man ha ett nytt ord för Folkhälsomyndighetens 0,6 procent. ”Dubious news”?

Gällivare och Motala

Tyvärr verkar smittan sprida sig i Gällivare och Motala. Undrar om de skall börja rekommendera munskydd lokalt. Som jag känner det vore allt annat omdömeslöst.
