Difficult

Andreas Umland (Eastern Europe analytic) says that Russia now is presenting a negotations theater. (Patrik Dahlin, Omni, Idag 21:57)

Seems reasonable. The difficult thing is to make the Russians do something that they do not want to do, that is ending the war and get out of Ukraine. 

All attempts to talk the Russians out of Ukraine are likely futile. The military and financial means employed have not sufficed. 

The question is how to make the Russians do something that they do not want to do. I do for sure not have the answer. If Trump does not have it, we are in deep trouble. 

Besides, one can note how silent the EU is at the moment. Von der Leyen might be busy making plans with China for a trade war against the USA.

Det verkar rimligt. Det svåra är att få Ryssland att göra något som de inte vill, d.v.s. sluta kriga och dra sig ur Ukraina. 

Alla försök att prata bort ryssarna från Ukraina torde vara futila. De militära och ekonomiska medel som har satts in har inte räckt. 

Den stora frågan är vad man göra för att få ryssarna att göra något som de inte vill. Jag har definitivt inte svaret. Om Trump inte har det är vi illa ute. 

För övrigt kan man notera EU:s tystnad just nu. Von der Leyen kanske är upptagen med Xi och planerar för handelskrig mot USA.
