2 November, Monday, Day 211

Society worries about the spread of the disease. At the same time, unemployment and economics are on the agenda. The economical matters are difficult. Mayby they can be summarized by: "Who shall take the financial blows?"

The politicians would most likely want the politically weak groups to take the blows. Politically strong groups have to feel that the Government is working for them. The politicians are carefully avoiding to formulate goals for their policies. 

The debate is weak. It mainly consists of voices calling for money. One could miss two groups in the discussion; economists and philosophers. 

The economists cannot define what is "right", but they could present alternatives from defined goals. For lack of goals set by the politicians, they could also suggest alternative goals. 

The philosophers could contribute by cleaning up in the discussion on goals. Since the question of who should take the blows is essentially philosophical, they could also add here. 

Society spends money on economists and philosophers, and now they could deliver a bit. 

SWEDISH

Oron för smittspridningen ökar. Samtidigt är arbetslöshet och ekonomi på agendan. De ekonomiska frågorna är svåra. De kanske kan sammanfattas med frågan "Vem skall ta smällarna?". 

Politiken vill sannolikt att de politiskt svaga grupperna skall ta smällarna, politiskt starka grupper måste uppleva att regeringen gör sitt bästa för dem. Politiken undviker noga att formulera mål för verksamheten. 

Debatten är minimal och klen. Den består i huvudsak av röster som vill ha pengar. Det är lätt att sakna två grupper i diskussionen: Nationalekonomer och filosofer. 

Nationalekonomerna kan inte komma fram till "rätt" lösning, men de skulle kunna presentera alternativ utifrån definierade mål. I brist på mål från politiken skulle de också kunna föreslå alternativa mål. 

Filosoferna skulle kunna bidra genom att städa upp i måldiskussionen. Eftersom frågan om vem som skall ta smällarna i grunden är filosofisk skulle de också kunna sätta lite filosofiskt kött på det benet. 

Samhället lägger ned pengar på både nationalekonomer och filosofer, och nu skulle de kunna börja leverera lite grann. 

1 November, Sunday, Day 210

Not much news today, which left time for contemplation. I wondered if the Government now is writing "Instructions for Epidemics", or if what happened this year slowly will be forgotten, and the next epidemic also will be handled awkwardly from the beginning. 

A suggestion for the first lines in this handbook is: 

"The top politicians must rapidly and concretely establish goals for society's actions. Without goals from the highest level, other agents will act cautiously, half-heartedly and inefficiently." 

SWEDISH

Inte så många nyheter idag. Kunde ägna mig åt lite reflexion. Undrade om regeringen nu upprättar en "Handbok för epidemier", eller om årets händelser skall få falla i glömska och även nästa epidemi hanteras valhänt från början. 

Ett förslag till första raderna i en handbok är att:

"Politiken måste snabbt lägga fast konkreta mål för vad samhället skall göra. Utan mål från den högsta politiska ledningen kommer övriga instanser att agera tveksamt, halvhjärtat och ineffektivt."

31 October, Saturday, Day 209

The infection is spreading, so are the worries about a second wave. At the same time, Tegnell is trying to make up his mind on face masks. The PM stands next to Tegnell, perplexed, waiting for the latter to come up with a decision. 

There are many aspects to the matter of face masks. One of them is: Who are the lesser smart, us or the Danes?

Unfortunately, there is no diplomatic answer to this question.

Smittspridningen ökar. Oron för en andra våg ökar också. Samtidigt försöker Tegnell besluta sig för om munskydd är bra eller inte. Löfvén står handfallen bredvid och väntar på att Tegnell skall besluta sig. 

Det finns många aspekter på munskyddsfrågan. En av dem är: Vilka är mindre smarta, danskarna eller vi? Det finns tyvärr inte utrymme för ett diplomatiskt svar på denna fråga. 

30 October, Friday, Day 208

Most Naive Today

Today, Minister of Social Affaires, Lena Hallengren, said, according to Text-TV, that: "Let us now hope that everyone understands that the local recommendations should be adhered to." [Freely translated.]

The statement guarantees the title "most naive today". That "everyone" will understand something is less than likely. The politicians ought to ask what to do with those who does not understand. A general reflexion is that those who does not understand the word "consideration" normally understands the word "fine". 

Text-TV today also reports on a strange discussion between regions and the Government on recommendations, tracking infections et cetera. It is not easy to sort out who seems wise, or not, in this discussion. Having thought about it for a while, the regions seems to be on the weaker side.

Naivast idag

Socialminister Lena Hallengren säger, enligt Text-TV, att: "Låt oss hoppas att alla förstår att man ska följa de restriktioner som de lokala råden innebär."

Uttalandet säkerställer titeln "naivast idag". Att "alla" skall inse något är mer än osannolikt. Politiken borde fråga sig hur man skall förhålla sig till dem som inte förstår. En allmän reflektion är att de som inte förstår ordet hänsyn brukar förstå ordet böter. 

Text-TV rapporterar idag också om en märklig diskussion mellan regioner och stat om rekommendationer, smittspårning med mera. Det är inte helt lätt att bestämma sig för vilka som verkar kloka i den här diskussionen, respektive inte. Med lite eftertanke verkar regionerna ligga på den svagare sidan. 

29 October, Thursday, Day 207

The infection is spreading. Tegnell talks about closing down parts of public transport. The Stockholm Public transport still fails to limit the number of people in each vehicle. As long as this is not done, I think that a closure in one place will result in more crowding in another. 

Various Swedish authorities count thousands of bureaucrats. It is remarkable that no one of them can act and make The Stockholm Public transport limit the number of people in each vehicle. 

It now also seems obvious that the infections spreads through parties. A one hundred thousand crowns fine for the ones arranging parties would solve that. 

SWEDISH

Smittan ökar. Tegnell talar om att stänga ned delar av kollektivtrafiken. SL:s oförmåga att leva upp till FHM:s rekommendationer om begränsning av antalet resande per fordon består. Så länge som man inte gör något åt det tror jag att nedstängning på ett ställe leder till mer trängsel på andra. 

Vad som är ännu mer märkligt är att FHM, MSB med flera räknar tusentals byråkrater, och inte en enda av dem kan skrida till någon form av handling för att få bot och bättring hos SL. 

Det verkar också vara uppenbart att smittan nu sprids via fester. Böter på 100 000 kr för arrangörerna skulle lösa den saken. 

28 October, Wednesday, Day 206

Today, there has been 2,100 newly infected. According to Text-TV, the highest figure so far. Is this really the case, or is it more efficient testing giving the new figures? 

I suspect that we, on top of the other quagmires, also have a statistical quagmire.

Idag 2 100 smittade. Enligt Text-TV den högsta siffran hitintills. Är det verkligen så, eller är det en effektivare mätning som påverkar? Jag misstänker att vi hela tiden har haft en statistikhärdsmälta, också. 

27 October, Tuesdagy, Day 205

 Text-TV tells of crowding in the Uppsala (major city) public transport. Region Uppsala seems to be incapable of action as Region Stockholm. 

The Authority for People's Health recommends that the Regions shall limit the number of people travelling in each vehicle. Region Stockholm has reacted by posting the poster below in trains. The  second  point says "If crowded, wait for the next buss, train or boat". 

This makes Region Stockholm eligeble for the award of "Most naive this year". 

That the Government pretends not to see nothing is of course a major problem.

SWEDISH

Text-TV berättar om stor trängsel i kollektivtrafiken i Uppsala. Region Uppsala verkar vara lika handlingsförlamad som Region Stockholm. 

FHM rekommenderar att man skall begränsa antalet resande per fordon. Region Stockholm har nu reagerat genom att sätta upp nedanstånde skylt. Man menar att människor skall vänta till nästa tåg om det verkar vara trångt på det som kommit in. Detta kvalificerar Region Stockholm för utmärkelsen "Naivast i år". 

Att staten låtsas om om det regnar indikerar naturligtvis ett allvarligt systemfel.
