Today, I woke up after a long and undisturbed sleep - I am feeling fine. The blogging will be disturbed by a small meeting in the local democracy project. I have to leave home before 2 o'clock.

The Corona is no longer dominating the news. Today, the leading news seems to be that the former Communist party is unhappy about market rents for flats.
Tegnell have come out with two things. The first one is that we should not focus on the number of dead. (Isabelle Nordström, Omni idag, 10.58). This view is somewhat surprising. I have always believed that the entire point of medical care is precisely to save human lives, and to cure and relieve suffering.
As an historian, I am led to believe that this is one of the statements that future historical research will focus on. The future researchers are likely to ask themselves the question: "What did he mean?"

Also, the good news of today comes from Tegnell. He says that the virus does not like the outside environment. Sunlight, wind and other things makes it live for a shorter time. (Telegram [cable] from TT, Omni, 24 April, 14.03.)
The sunlight seems obvious, one could, however, ask how the wind affects the virus, and what "other things" are. I am wondering if a higher temperature is among "other things". The answers might, as usually, be "don't know".

I think that at this stage, one must accept that there are many things that we do not know. I do, however, have a feeling that the authorities want to make believe that they know more than they do. The model, quite raw as I understand it, that the Authority for People's Health uses to predict the spreading of the infection could be one example. Trying to appear as more informed than one is would in the long run be dangerous.

Now it is time to head off for the meeting. I cross my fingers for a decrease in the number of dead.

When I got home late in the evening, I read the statistics. Now there are 2,192 dead (+40).

Sov länge och gott – mår utmärkt. Dagens bloggning rubbas av ett litet möte i lokaldemokratiprojektet. Jag måste gå hemifrån innan 14.00. 

Coronan dominerar inte nyheterna längre. (V):s missnöje med marknadshyror verkar vara den stora nyheten idag.

Tegnell går ut med två saker. Den första är att man inte skall stirra sig blind på dödstalen (Isabelle Nordström, Omni, idag 10.58). Tegnells ståndpunkt här är något överraskande. Jag har alltid trott att själva poängen med medicinverksamheten är att just rädda människoliv, samt för det andra att bota och lindra. Som historiker kan man tro att det här uttalandet kan bli ett av de uttalanden som framtida historieforskning kommer att fokusera på. Man kommer då förmodligen att ställa sig frågan: ”Vad menade han egentligen?”

Även dagens goda nyhet kommer från Tegnell. Viruset gillar inte utomhusmiljön. Solljus, vind och annat medför att det överlever mycket kortare tid. (Telegram från TT/Omni 24 april, 14.03.)

Solljuset verkar självklart, man kan dock fråga sig hur vinden påverkar viruset och vad ”annat” egentligen är. Själv undrar jag om ”annat” bland annat är högre lufttemperatur. Svaren kanske som vanligt är ”vet inte”.

Jag tycker att man i det här läget måste ha stor förståelse för att det är massor som vi inte vet. Jag har dock en svag känsla av att myndigheterna vill påskina att det vet mer än vad de vet. Folkhälsomyndighetens presentation av den uppenbarligen grovt tillyxade matematiska modellen för smittspridning framstår som ett exempel. Att försöka framstå som kunnigare än vad man är brukar inte löna sig i längden.

Nu är det strax dags att bege sig till mötet. Jag håller tummarna för att dödstalen har gått ned idag. 

Vid den sena hemkomsten tittade jag på statistiken, 2 192 döda (+40).
