Time flies. April 1, it felt like the crucial month never would end, and now we are already in the middle of May.

The Opposition
Today, I was planning to write that the Opposition, as far as one can understand from the news, only care about finances, not people's health. Ulf Kristersson, the leader of an Opposition party, made this complaint impossible by a statement to extent that the necessity of testing in elderly care is written in fire. The Minister of Interior defended himself by stating that there are many levels between decision and action. (Lisa Andersson, Omni, Idag 15:21). Lame defense, and devastating critique of the organization.

Concerning tests, Omni reports that Roche has developed a fully reliable anti-body test. The British seem to be agile in the matter. (Anders Hovne, Omni, Idag 15:02) Remains to be seen how Swedish authorities act.
Text-TV reports that the Chinese shall test eleven million people in Wuhan. I do not think that their ability to do so could be explained by the fact that China is a dictatorship. I simply think that it is a matter of political ambitions, and that ability to organize is the second important factor.

The Centern Party
In the morning, the Centern (formerly Farmer's Party) drew attention in a positive way. They wish for a national strategy on vaccination. They wanted to place the task with the Authority for People's Health. (Mimmi Nilsson, Omni, Idag 10:37) I cannot estimate if the latter is a wise move. Given the fact that the task is crucial and the costs of producing a strategy is small, the Government could task three authorities with producing the strategy, and see which authority that produces the best one.

Spanish Statistics
New Spanish statistics show that relatively few are infection in a nation which is hard hit by the disease. I, obviously together with many others, am confused on the matter of what this means for our flock immunity. The Authority for People's Health was during today's press conference asked what the statistics mean to us. The answer was: "But we do not have any express strategy around this that we think that a certain number of persons should be infected." [Not easy to translate.] (Mimmi Nilsson, Omni, Idag 14:24)

The statement is one of the most clarifying on Swedish Corona-strategy that I have heard so far. It is possible that the strategy matters have not been discussed in circles wide enough.

Strategy
Concerning strategy, one question occurred to me: "What strategy would we have chosen if the infection was more deadly?" I looked up the Spanish Disease in the Wikipedia and understood the following: A third of the population was infected and 2.5 percent of the infected died. In today's Sweden, that would mean 75,000 dead. My guess is that we in this scenario would have acted different from what we do today.

Tiden går fort. Den 1 april kändes det som om ödesmånaden aldrig skulle ta slut, och nu är vi redan i mitten av maj.

Oppositionen

Idag hade jag tänkt skriva att oppositionen, så vitt man kan förstå av nyheterna, bara tänker på pengar, inte på människors hälsa. Ulf Kristersson kullkastade detta genom idag uttala att behovet av tester i äldreomsorgen nu står skrivet i eldskrift. Inrikesministern värjde sig mot angreppet med att det är så många led mellan beslut och utförande. (Lisa Andersson, Omni, Idag 15:21) Lamt försvar, och förödande kritik mot organisationen. 

Rörande tester rapporterar Omni om att Roche har utvecklat ett helt tillförlitligt antikroppstest. Britterna verkar var handlingskraftiga i frågan. (Anders Hovne, Omni, Idag 15.02) Återstår att se hur Sverige kommer att förhålla sig. Text-TV rapporterar att kineserna skall testa elva miljoner människor i Wuhan. Jag tror inte att deras förmåga kan förklaras bort med att Kina är en diktatur. Jag tror helt enkelt att den politiska viljan är viktigast, organisationsförmåga kommer som tvåa.

Centern

Under förmiddagen utmärkte sig Centerpartiet i positiv bemärkelse. De önskar att en nationell strategi för vaccinering skall utarbetas. Uppdraget skulle läggas på Folkhälsomyndigheten. (Mimmi Nilsson, Omni, Idag 10:37) Om den senare delen av yrkandet är så klokt undandrar sig mitt bedömande. Med tanke på att mycket står på spel och utredningskostnaderna är minimala så skulle regeringen kunna lägga ut uppdrag på tre myndigheter, och se vem som gör jobbet bäst.

Spansk statistik

Ny spansk statistik visar att relativt få är smittade i ett hårt drabbat land. Många med mig verkar ha blivit förvirrade i frågan om vad detta innebär för vår förväntade flockimmunitet. Folkhälsomyndigheten fick frågan vad statistiken betyder för oss. Svaret blev ”Men vi har inte heller någon uttalad strategi kring det här att vi tycker att ett visst antal personer skall ha haft smittan.” (Mimmi Nilsson, Omni Idag 14:24).

Uttalandet är det mest klargörande jag har hört kring den svenska Corona-strategin. Det kan möjligen vara så att de svenska strategifrågorna inte har behandlats i en tillräckligt bred krets.

Strategi

Rörande strategi slogs jag av frågan: ”Vilken strategi skulle vi ha haft om smittan varit mer dödlig.” Jag tittade på Wikipedia och uppfattade följande om spanska sjukan: En tredjedel smittades och 2,5 procent av de smittade dog. För dagens Sverige skulle det betyda 75 000 döda. Min gissning är att vi i ett sådant läge hade agerat annorlunda än vad vi gör idag.
