Carlson and the Commission

According to Text-TV, Johan Carlson, in charge of the Authority for People's Health (FHM) rebuttles the critique forwarded by the Commission. In covered wording, he is also blaming the regions. 

Carlson's standpoint is quite understandable. From a psychological angle, it is most likely totally impossible to assume even a small part of the responsiblity for the death of thousands. 

To be able to stash the Corona away, I think that two questions need answers. 

The first is which responsibility that Government assumed, or if this entirely was an affair for the FHM.

The second concerns herd immunity. Now everyone is in denial, but was this really the case? Did Government accept the idea that a large number of people would suffer for the total best of the collective? This idea is probaly quite attractive to some ideologies. 

If the herd immunity idea was there, who fielded it and who agreed? Further, if the idea was there, when was it deserted, and why?

Carlson och kommissionen

Enligt Text-TV slår Johan Carlson ifrån sig kommissionens kritik. I förtäckta ordalag försöker han även att lägga skulden på regionerna. 

Carlsons ståndpunkt är helt förståelig. Ur psykologisk synvinkel är det förmodligen helt omöjligt att ens åta sig en liten del av skulden för tusentals människors död. 

För att vi skall kunna lägga Coronan bakom oss tror jag dock att det är två frågor som behöver besvaras. 

Den första är vilket ansvar som regeringen tog, eller faller allt på FHM?

Den andra rör flockimmuniteten. Nu svär sig alla fria, men var det verkligen så? Accepterade regeringen tanken på att mängder med människor skulle drabbas för kollektivets långsiktiga väl? Tanken är sannolikt attraktiv för vissa ideologier. Om tanken fanns där, vem lanserade den och vilka nickade instämmande? Vidare, om tanken fanns där, när övergavs den, och varför?

Resourses or Comptence?

Newspapers have started to comment on the Commission report. In Aftonbladet [socialisty daily],  editor Ingvar Persson claims that decades of reductions in the public sector has created the problem. (Patrik Dahlin, Omni, Igår 21:31)

For something to get better, the problem has to be properly described. It is not obvious that Persson is right. Swedish public sector is larger than ever. Thus, the problem is not necessarily resources, but how these resources are used. It is possible that the leaders in public sector are not good enough, and that they lack agility, which could be summarized as; perhaps the wrong people are in charge. `

One example is that the Authority for People's Health (FHM) consists of 500 people and cost about SEK half a billion every year. Would anything have been better if it consisted of 1 000 people and cost SEK one billion?

Resurser eller kompetens?

Tidningarna har börjat kommentera kommissionen. Aftonbladets ledarskribent Ingvar Persson menar att årtionden av nedskärningar är problemet. (Patrik Dahlin, Omni, Igår 21:31)

För att något skall bli bättre gäller det att göra rätt analys av problemet. Persson har inte självklart rätt. Den svenska offentliga sektorn är större än den någonsin varit. Problemet behöver alltså inte vara resurser, utan hur de används. En hypotes är att offentlighetens ledande personer inte är tillräckligt bra, och att de saknar handlingskraft, vilket skulle kunna sammanfattas med att kanske fel människor har makten.

Ett exempel är att FHM består av cirka 500 personer och kostar cirka en halv miljard om året. Skulle något ha blivit bättre av att de bestod av 1 000 personer och kostade en miljard?

The Commission

The Corona Commission has published a partial report. Lena Hallengren, Minister for Social Affairs, says that testing was a responsibility for the regions.  (Olivia Wikström, Omni, Idag 14:47)

The report does not seem to quite as bleak as I had feared. Lena Hallengren blaming other is to me quite remarkable. The way I see it, Government is the only one in Sweden who cannot blame others.

Kommissionen

Coronakommissionen har kommit med en delrapport. Lena Hallengren hävdar att provtagningen var regionernas ansvar. (Olivia Wikström, Omni, Idag 14:47)

Rapporten verkar inte var fullt så urvattnad som jag hade fruktat. Att Lena Hallengren skyller ifrån sig är för mig ganska märkligt. Som jag ser det är regeringen de enda i Sverige som faktiskt inte kan skylla på någon annan.

Exit Carlson

Karin Tegmark Wisell will replace Johan Carlson as boss of the Authority for People's Health (FHM) on Monday. She is looking forward to develop their work, with a good health for the entire population as a goal. (Linus Lindgren, Omni, 14:47) It will be interesting to see if there will be any changes in the way the autority works.

One could also ask if this statement means that the authority will condemn illegal drugs, instead of suggeting a legalization of them. One could further ask why the FHM is a separate entity, and not a (slimmed down) office in the Socialstyrelsen (the Board for Social Affairs).

Exit Carlson

Karin Tegmark Wisell kommer att ersätta Johan Carlson som chef för FHM på måndag. Hon ser fram emot att fortsätta utvecka myndighetens uppdrag, med en god hälsa för hela befolkningen som mål. (Linus Lindgren, Omni, 14:47) Det skall bli intressant att se om vi får se några ändringar i myndighetens agerande. 

Man kan också undra om detta uttalande innehär att man kommer att ta avstånd från narkotika, istället för att tala för en legalisering. Man kan ytterligare fråga sig varför vi har FHM som en egen myndighet, och inte som en (trimmad) avdelning på Socialstyrelsen. 

27 October, Wednesday, Day 566

1,259 newly infected. An increase from last Wedneday's 807. 

Anti-Vaccination People

From my point of view, I can only understand that the number of dead and newly infected is connected to the number of people who have not yet been vaccinated. Here, one cannot trace any statmanship among Swedish politician. None of them use strong words against the anti-vacciantion people. 

It is possible that the politicians are afraid of losing some marginal votes if they say anything, and thus let party interests take priority over national interest. 

Logics According to Carlson

People above the age of sixty-five and people working with elderly will be prioritized for at third dose. 

The boss of the Authority for People's Health, Johan Carlson says the following regarding the third dose [translated as correctly as I can]: "Would we let them that are fastest at booking a time slot first, we fear that those in greater need would be lagging behind." (Felicia Nordlund, Omni, Idag 15.15)

One can think about the sentence for some time. Myself, I am not so sure that I understand. One could also ask how limited the resources for giving a third dose is - do we have to arrange a waiting line? One could also ask if everyone working with elderly have gotten the first and the second dose.

Logik enligt Carlson

Personer som är över 65 och de som arbetar med äldre skall prioriteras skall få en tredje dos. Chefen för FHM, Johan Carlson säger följande appropå den tredje dosen: "Skulle vi låta dem som är snabbast på att beställa tid först är vi rädda för att de som har större behov ska komma på efterkälken." (Felicia Nordlund, Omni, Idag 15.15)

Man kan fundera ett tag över meningen. Själv blir jag inte riktigt klok på den. Man kan fråga sig hur begränsade resurserna är för att ge den tredje dosen - måste vi anordna en kö? Man kan också fråga sig om alla som arbetar med äldre har fått den första och andra dosen. 

26 October, Tuesday, Day 565

2,275 newly infected since Friday, a week ago, it was  1,662. An uncomfortable increase.

Tegnell

Tegnell says that we have to reach unvaccinated in the age group twenty to forty. (Sebastian Hagberg, Omni, Idag 13:10)

I wonder if Tegnell has a strategy, or any idea about what the problem is. A problem which is not described cannot be solved. 

A Monument

The number of dead passed 15,000 today. I cannot believe that 15,000 people ever have died in modern times without getting a monument. 

The politicans will most likely lay low, but one can hope for a private inititive. Unfortunately, I myself do not have the right energy, but I will definetively donate the day the fundraising starts.

Tegnell

Tegnell säger att vi måste komma åt ovaccinerade i åldersgruppen 20 till 40. (Sebastian Hagberg, Omni, Idag 13:10)

Undrar om Tegnell har någon strategi eller någon uppfattning om vad problemet är. Ett problem som inte är beskrivet går inte att lösa. 

Monument

Antalet döda passerade 15 000 idag. Jag tror inte att 15 000 människor någonsin har dött i modern tid utan att få en monument. 

Politikerna kommer sannolikt att ligga lågt, men man kan hoppas på ett privat initiativ. Jag har själv inte så mycket energi, men jag kommer definitivt att donera en slant till insamlingen. 

25 October, Monday, Day 564

Today, Corona news are few and far between, which could be a good sign. 

China

One of the few Corona news is that the situation is getting worse in China. (Andreas Victorzon, Omni Ekonomi, Igår 20:49).

Quite remarkably, there is no information on vaccinations in China in "Our World in Data". Thereby, one cannot see if China has a vaccination problem or if the the problem is elsewhere. Without really knowing, one could guess that vaccinations is the only thing helping.

Det är klart tunnsått med Coronanyheter idag, kanske ett bra tecken. 

Kina

En av de få Coronanyheterna är att läget i Kina förvärras. (Andreas Victorzon, Omni Ekonomi, Igår 20:49).

Märkligt nog saknas information om vaccinationsgraden i Kina på "Our World in Data", och därmed gick det inte att se om Kina har ett vaccinationsproblem eller om det är något annat som brister. Utan att riktigt veta kan man dock gissa att det bara är vaccinationer som hjälper.
